Author brings to life stories for Worthing schoolchildren

A CHILDREN’S author brought his stories to life for schoolchildren when he combined drama and audience participation.

Luke Temple visited Chesswood Middle School, in Chesswood Road, Worthing, and performed sections from his books, Stormy Cliff and The Secret Theatre.

Ness Radcliffe, English leader at the school, said: “Luke Temple’s visit was truly inspirational, from his dramatic entrance, to the insightful comments showing an awareness of the difficulties that some children have in reading and writing.

“What made this author stand out from others was the balance he had in his presentation. It was part theatrical performance, part informative talk about how to be an author. Both aspects of the presentation were equally entertaining and involved silly stories, dramatic videos and audience participation. The children were delighted.”

The children have been developing their ability to respond to inspirational events through writing, using their own choice of literary genre.

Luke Temple was brought in to inspire years four, five and six during the school’s final “big write” of the year.
