BIRDMAN: Worthing and Adur councillors take the plunge – video

COUNCILLORS Kevin Skepper and Angus Dunn hope to be flying like a kite when they take to the skies in Worthing Birdman.

Kevin, a Worthing councillor for Broadwater ward, and Angus, a councillor for Adur District Council, will be flying off Worthing Pier on Sunday (July 6) in a kite-style flying machine, designed by Chris Kenny.

They will be wearing costumes made out of recycled materials – to represent the partnership work of both councils in creating a joint recycling and refuse service across the two areas.

Kevin said: "I'm not sure I was thinking straight when I volunteered to make this inaugural flight for 'partnership working' – especially when I heard how high the platform was going to be.

"However, I am very pleased to fly alongside Angus and hope we can fly some distance."

Angus added: "It's not quite what I had in mind when I was asked to support a further partnership project with Worthing, but I'm delighted to be joining Kevin as part of the team.

"Particularly, as it enables us to raise some money for two fantastically worthy causes."

Kevin is fund-raising for Mick's Garage East Worthing Community House and Angus is fund-raising for the Shoreham Lifeboat Station Appeal in Adur.

To contribute to their fund-raising antics, call Kevin on 07850 900310 or email kevin.skepper@worthing.gov.uk or Angus can be contacted on 01273 870067 or email angus.dunn@adur.gov.uk
