BREAKING NEWS: Bloody attack closes part of Worthing shopping precinct

POLICE have sealed off part of Worthing town centre after a brutal attack left a man in intensive care.

The victim, a man in his early 20s, suffered head injuries after being assaulted in the Montague Centre at 1.28am today (Saturday, May 31).

He was taken to Worthing Hospital in a serious condition and remains under observation.

Officers cordoned off around 50 metres between the Waterstone's bookshop and McDonalds fast-food restaurant at around 6am when forensic investigators began examining the crime scene.

Busy weekend crowds gathered and looked on as officers dusted shop windows for fingerprints and examined bloodstains on the pavement.

Police confirmed a man had been arrested in relation to the assault.
