BREAKING NEWS: Police close Worthing drugs flat

MORE than 20 police have carried out a legal closure of a flat in Victoria Road, Worthing, today (Friday, June 12).

The closure, a form of legal eviction, was carried out at 2.40pm today and follows a drugs raid at the same flat in March, when cocaine was discovered.

Neighbours have also made repeated complaints of anti-social behaviour.

Officers found a dog inside the flat, but the occupants appear to have left.

The flat will be closed for three months.

This is the second flat closure carried out in Worthing, and it is believed to be the first case of its type in the country to be led by a PCSO.

PCSO Kevin Brown worked closely with the community and neighbours to bring the case to court.

The order was made at Chichester Magistrate's court this morning.

Video filmed during the police action will be online later this afternoon.

A full report with the background story behind the raid will appear in the Worthing Herald on Thursday, June 18.
