BREAKING NEWS: Woman taken to hospital after Lancing flat blaze
A WOMAN had to be rescued from a flat fire in Lancing yesterday (Wednesday, August 11).
The woman was rescued from a third floor flat in St David's Gate, Penstone Park, Lancing, shortly before 6pm.
She was taken to hospital to be treated for burns to her back and smoke inhalation.
Crews from Lancing's retained fire station were called to the six-storey block of flats at 5.38pm last night.
They arrived at 5.46pm and 5.47pm.
Evacuation
After further calls from members of the public engines from Worthing and Shoreham were also called to the scene.
All the other flats in St David's Gate were evacuated while firefighters tackled the blaze.
Most residents were able to return to their homes at 7.11pm.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
