Call to view plans for Sompting

SOMPTING residents are invited to attend two neighbourhood plan informal ‘drop-in’ sessions next week.

The sessions will provide residents with an opportunity to view the draft policies and other ‘exciting’ projects associated with the Plan, according to David Porter, clerk to Sompting Parish Council.

The sessions will be manned so questions can be asked.

“It is important that as many residents attend and give their views as possible, as these sessions will lead to the finalising of the draft Neighbourhood Plan which will be issued for formal consultation,” said Mr porter.

“These draft policies will, amongst others, help influence the Strategic Allocation on land at West Sompting and suggest key principles for the waste site at Halewick Lane without making any allocations for development.”

The sessions will be held at the Harriet Johnson Centre in Loose Lane, Sompting, on Wednesday, April 23 from 5pm to 9pm, and on Saturday, April 26 from 10am to 1pm.

The plan can contain policies affecting land use, transport, education, housing, business development, employment, open spaces and access to countryside, conservation areas and nature reserves.

It cannot contain a policy for no new housing but may include policies that control housing growth.
