Cash boost for kids
YOUNG people in Eastbourne have been given £10,000 to boost youth activities in their area.
Children from three Hampden Park schools, Highfield Junior School, Parkland Junior School and Eastbourne Technology College, have joined together to help increase out-of- school clubs and activities for young people in the area.
Pupils from Highfield decided they wanted more of a say in youth clubs and activities in their area.
The idea was supported by their teachers and the Local Partnership for Children (LPC), which brings together schools and other services for children in the area. Through the LPC the other two schools joined the project.
The project has received 10,000 funding from Awards for All (England), a branch of the National Lottery which offers grants of between 300 and 10,000 for projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them.
The funding is aimed at voluntary and community groups, schools and health organisations.
It also involves parish and town councils.
