COUNCILLORS say the work to redevelop Queensway has not been delayed, but rather ‘put back’ until September at the request of local traders.
Cabinet Members for environment and regeneration, Keith Dollemore and Pat Beresford, say the work remains on schedule and should be finished by the end of November.
“The works were planned to start in April, but due to objections from local traders about them potentially impacting on their trade over the summer, the scheme was put back to September,” the two councillors said in a joint statement.
News of the new schedule was announced at a meeting of the Lancing Vision Delivery Partnership in March.
“The scheme, once completed, will see a fabulous new square created with new paving, seating, LED lighting, cycle stands and tree planting to give a more welcoming continental look and feel,” said the joint statement.
