CRIME FILE: brazen thefts from Worthing stores – with map
TWO stores have been targeted by brazen thieves, and police are linking car break ins with a burglary.

Playstation stolen
A PLAYSTATION games console was stolen when thieves broke into a house in Tarring.
The burglary happened sometime between 1.15pm and 1.45pm on Tuesday, March 25.
The offenders smashed a window in the lounge to get inside the property in Ethelwulf Road.
Burglars disturbed
A WOMAN awoke to hear thieves running up and down the stairs in her Goring Road home.
The woman said she heard the voice of a girl sniggering but by the time she got downstairs the offenders had gone.
It is believed they got inside the house through a kitchen window.
When the woman looked around, she realised her purse had been stolen from inside her handbag and some alcohol was missing.
The burglary happened sometime after 1.15am on Thursday, March 27.

Linked to burglary
THERE was a spate of car break ins overnight on Thursday, March 27, in the Goring area.
Police said it was possible they were linked to a burglary in Goring Road on the same night.
Two arrested
ELECTRICAL items and CDs were taken when a property was burgled in Worthing.
The house in Meadow Road was broken into around lunchtime on Friday, March 28, after the thieves smashed a window at the rear.
Police have since arrested two local men in their mid 30s in connection with the burglary.
They have been remanded in police custody.
Beach huts hit
SIX beach huts were targeted by thieves overnight on Friday, March 28, in the Goring area.
The beach inspector called the police after noticing the padlocks on the huts had been cut off.
Champagne snatch
A SOON-to-be merry thief stole 250 worth of champagne from a Worthing supermarket.
Police said the "bulk theft" from Waitrose in High Street, happened sometime during the day on Friday, March 28.
It was captured on the store's CCTV cameras, and the footage was reviewed by police.
The thief, who used a checked bag to carry the bottles out the store, is described as a white man about 6ft tall, of large build, in his early to mid 40s.
He is described as having black hair and was wearing a white fleece with a black collar and dark coloured trousers, thought to be from the Adidas brand.
Ice cream smash
A PLASTIC ice cream cone-shaped sign outside the Wimpy restaurant in Chapel Road has been smashed.
It is thought the sign, which has been targeted by youths several times previously, was damaged sometime over the weekend of Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30.
Grabbed an armful
A FASHION-conscious thief picked up 23 dresses and 15 tops from a town centre clothes shop and walked out without paying.
The theft happened after the thief grabbed the armful of clothes on Friday, March 28, at New Look in Montague Street, Worthing.
Chased by shop worker
A SHOP worker chased two thieves down the road after they stole 50 cash from the till.
The thieves struck at around 3.15pm on Thursday, March 27, while staff were working out the back of the store in Tarring Road.
They successfully accessed the till, but one of the workers was alerted to what was happening as they started to run off down the road.
He ran after them but eventually they got away.
By chance, a few days later he spotted the thieves walking down the street and called police.
The men, one of whom was in his early 20s, were arrested and have now been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
