Death and injuries after sheep and lamb attacked in Sompting
A LAMB was left with a broken leg after being "kicked into the air".
Samson the lamb's leg was broken while he was in a field off West Street, Sompting, where owner Andy Pannell keeps his animals.
Andy was alerted to Samson's plight after a friend found a note on the field gate of the field telling saying someone had been kicking one of his lambs.
"When I rang the woman who left the note she said she'd seen a young lad kicking one of my lambs so hard that it was lifting off the floor," he said.
Hand-reared
Mr Pannell went to check on his flock and found the week-old lamb's leg was broken in two places.
It had to be taken away from it's mother and is being hand-reared by Mr Pannell's grandmother, Sylvia Brown, in Worthing.
"I wonder how someone could do that," he said.
"To look down at a little lamb and think, 'it would be fun to kick that', is disgusting."
Chasing animals
Mr Pannell said a week before the lamb was injured his sister found three youngsters chasing sheep across the field.
"We think it might be one of the same lads," he said.
Mr Pannell reported the attack to the police and the RSPCA.
