Family carnival in Lancing

A FAMILY event will be relaunched in Lancing at the start of this year's Adur Festival.

Lancing Carnival has been revived by the parish council and will start on Saturday, June 6, from 10am in the village centre and from 2pm on Beach Green.

There will be a funfair, entertainment from the Brighton Morris Men, a Punch and Judy show, Scrufts dog show and stalls.

If the weather is bad all the entertainment will move into Lancing Parish Hall, in South Street.

There will also be a fireworks display at 9.30pm.

At 1pm on Sunday, June 7, there will be a walking procession from Monks Recreation Ground, in Crabtree Lane, Lancing, to Beach Green for the traditional Blessing of the Boats ceremony at 2.30pm.

"The chair and councillors of the parish council are keen to promote positive activities for Lancing, as it is a very friendly community, so please come and join us and walk with our procession," said Lancing Parish Council chairman Ann Bridges.
