A MAN who was lucky to escape from a burning van with his life has spoken of his ordeal.

Alex Bridge, 40, of West Avenue, Goring, suffered second degree burns to his hands and circumstantial burns to his face while trying to flee from the van at 12.30am last Wednesday.

Alex said: “My mate woke me up and if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here at all. It was completely and utterly ablaze and the heat and the amount of smoke was not very nice at all.”
