Firefighters rescue girl from compost bin

A FIRE crew was called to free a seven-year-old girl from a compost bin.

The young girl had been walking around the outside of the bin at her home in East Worthing when she fell in and became stuck.

Firefighters from Worthing were called at 2pm today (Wednesday, September 1) to rescue her.

They tried to free the seven-year-old from the bin, which was full of egg shells and vegetables, by pulling her out but eventually had to use cutting tools.

A fire service spokeswoman said the girl was unharmed and pleased to be sent back indoors with her mother.
