GALLERY: St Barnabas fun run – with list of participants

MORE than 500 people braved soaring temperatures to run, walk and even juggle their way to the finishing line at the annual St Barnabas Fun Run.

Adults and children, some in fancy dress, ran the 5km course along Worthing prom, after doing some much-needed warm-up exercises with Helen Cox from Worthing Leisure Centre.

Leading runners

First back was Shoreham man Andy Payne, 44.

The first woman back was Louise Wise, 47, from Rustington.

Fastest under-16s were Tom Andrews,15, and Leah Harris, 11.

Fancy dress

Winner of the best fancy dress group was the Phoenix Surgery in Goring, which entered a team of 13 people.

Their team name was the Phoenix Circus and costumes included lions, an elephant, a bearded lady, fortune teller and even a stilt walker.

Best individual in fancy dress was Sloane Vaughan, from Littlehampton, as the Queen of Hearts.

The winning child in fancy dress was two-and-a-half-year-old Lena Nicholas, who went as a wizard.

Money raised

When all the sponsorship money has been collected, organisers estimate the fun run will raise around 20,000.
