The pair appeared in the paper because they are going on a trek through the Thai jungle later this year to raise money for charity Leukaemia Care.
Gemma, 26, of Goring Road, Goring, had a form of the disease, known as aplastic anemia, when she was just 10.
She needed a bone marrow transplant and 20-year-old Becca, then aged just four, was the brave donor who saved her life.
Gemma said: "The article was fantastic we have had some donations already and a great response.
"I was in no way prepared for such a large spread and the front page.
"It does not get any better than that."
To help them achieve the 6,000 they want to raise, the girls are holding a fund-raising gig at the Vintner's Parrot pub in Warwick Street on March 21.
Local band JAG will be performing and there will be a raffle.
They will hold two further events in July and October, before leaving for Thailand in November where they will trek around 26 miles through the jungle over the course of seven days.
