THE Guildbourne IT Workshop celebrated a year of helping people come to grips with computers yesterday (May 24).

The charity, which is situated in the Guildbourne Centre, in Worthing, offers free help to people who want to learn the basics of IT, and was joined by new mayor of Worthing Charles James, for the birthday bash.

Andy Sheppard, manager, said: “Nervous beginners are our speciality. When we opened last year we only got two people a day in – three at the most.

“Now we’re getting more than 150 learners a week. We have actually helped over 4,908 people. Out of that, 1,508 are unique users.”

The IT Workshop opened to the public on May 16, 2011, and is now a registered charity.
