Help save water in Sussex
IF YOU spot a leaking water main, you could help to save millions of litres of water.
Southern Water is reminding customers to call in when they spot a leak, to help conserve water supplies during the driest winter since 1976.
Some 46,300 customers called the company’s freephone leakline number on 0800 820999 last year, helping to save millions of litres of water.
Their vigilance has contributed to the water firm recording its lowest leakage figures for four years.
Since September, the company has beaten its monthly target set by regulator Ofwat by about eight million litres of water per day.
This is the result of an ongoing leak reduction programme which includes the replacement of water mains and the installation of water meters which are fitted with leak alarms.
