INCIDENT FILE: Alcohol crackdown, burglaries, fires and accidents – with map

THE emergency services have dealt with a series of accidents on the A27, as well as break-ins and house fires, during the last week.

Beer taken

POLICE took three drunk youths home during Operation Respect on Friday (March 14) night.

Also, cider and beer were seized from a group of 15 youths on Adur Recreation Ground, Shoreham.

Home burgled

A BURGLAR broke into a house in Erringham Road, Shoreham, on Sunday (March 16) morning, smashing a back window. Jewellery and cash were stolen.

Generator stolen

A GENERATOR was stolen from a stable in Smugglers Lane, Upper Beeding, on Saturday, March 20.

Aid for man and dog

A MAN and a dog were helped from the scene of an accident after two cars collided in Upper Beeding.

Firefighters from Steyning were called to Shoreham Road, between the Rising Sun pub and the Steyning bypass, last Wednesday (March 12).

They righted the two cars involved, made them safe and used soil to soak up spilt fuel.

Rush hour accidents

COMMUTERS faced rush-hour delays after six cars were involved in three separate crashes on a single stretch of road.

The A27 was closed westbound from the Southwick Tunnel to the Adur flyover following the accidents on Thursday (March 13) evening.

Two cars collided in each of the three accidents. In the third, a woman was released from her car by ambulance paramedics before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters from Shoreham and Lancing made the scene safe before the road was reopened. No one was believed to have suffered serious injuries.
