Internet café for silver surfers in Steyning
A NEW internet café for the over-60s has opened its doors in Steyning.
As part of successful 60+ Club, run by Impact Services at the Dingeman Centre, in Shooting Field, the internet caf has been an instant success with visitors, who are now able to combine regular club activities with surfing the world wide web.
"Having the internet caf as part of the 60+ Club is a great idea," said senior centre worker Stephanie Lindfield.
"New visitors can see what other activities are going on for older people, such as t'ai chi and yoga, and current members can take the opportunity to use the caf.
"This week, one gentleman who regularly attends t'ai chi classes came back specifically to use the caf having seen it in action the previous week."
"And second-time visitor, Bert Cadman, 90, has been able to find an affordable replacement for his camera through surfing the web, with the assistance of our regular IT helper."
The 60+ Club internet caf runs every Monday, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Meals are available at lunchtimes, from the centre's own servery.
