Lancing and Sompting residents drive bus campaign forwards

A CAMPAIGN to restore the half-hourly number seven bus service through Sompting and Lancing gained momentum last week.

Kay Vincent, chairman of Cokeham Liberal Democrats, launched the campaign.

She said a senior executive of Stagecoach South, the company responsible for timetabling the service, had agreed to meet her early in the new year.

Mrs Vincent said: “I am pleased with the prompt and positive response from the company.

“At the meeting, I shall be putting a strong case for bringing back the half-hourly service.”

Mrs Vincent said she had received several telephone calls from people who wanted to support the campaign.

She added that she would be particularly interested in hearing from people who have been inconvenienced by the switch to an hourly service.

“Personal stories help to bring home the impact a decision like this has on people’s lives,” she said.

Mrs Vincent can be contacted on 01903 766341.

The campaign comes as many services up and down the country are being cut to save money.
