Lancing baby remembered in charity run

A FUND-RAISING run in memory of a baby from Lancing who died of a rare condition on his first birthday has raised over £1,000 for Chestnut Tree House.

Family and friends of Jack Blunsdon ran a 10k run in aid of Chestnut Tree House at the beginning of September.

The eight runners raised 1,200 for the children's hospice at Poling, near Arundel, where Jack died on January 11, 2007 – his first birthday.

Hayley Ball, Jack's aunt, said: "We all wore the Jack birthday wish t-shirts again and it was great to be announced on the day as team Merry Monk.

"I am amazed at the amount raised."

Jack suffered from myotubular myopathy, which causes muscle weakness throughout the body.

Jack's Birthday Wish was launched in July last year by his parents, Karen Vardy and Dave Blunsdon.

So far Jack's Birthday Wish has raised over 500,000 for Chestnut Tree House.
