Lancing pedestrian seriously injured in collision with car

A PEDESTRIAN was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Sompting Road, Lancing, at 8.45pm on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old man suffered major head injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, before being transferred to Hurstwood Park Neurological Unit in Haywards Heath, where he was said to be in a serious condition.

Emergency services were called after a Fiat Punto collided with the Lancing man at the entrance to Warren Court.

The driver, a 61-year-old Lancing woman, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.

She was taken into custody and police are now appealing for witnesses.
