A sculpture in the middle of a cycle path that bemused cyclists will not be moved but councillors have approved safety improvements.
The sculpture, at the western end of Beach Green, Lancing, is in place to prevent travellers accessing the site.
But following a meeting between council members and Cycling Touring Club local representative, Anthony Cartmell, a number of alterations will be made.
These include putting reflective strips on the sculpture, removing obstructive bollards to widen the space either side and placing a pedestrian guard barrier on the A259 footway.
Colin Hunt, clerk to Lancing Parish Council, said: ““We agreed on a plan of action between ourselves.
“It all worked out amicably and we’re hoping to start this week, weather permitting.”
