Phoenix over 50s Readers

Phoenix over 50s Readers

A slideshow of the group’s trip to Paris was screened by Phoenix Reader Margaret Stevens, while Chris Stevens explained how the French capital inspired famous authors.

The trip saw the Readers visit locations such as the Rue de Rivoli, the Café des Amateurs and Gertrude Stein’s apartment.

In preparation for the event, the group read a selection from Camus, Sartre and Collette, to Ernest Hemingway, Scott-Fitzgerald, Jack Kerouac, Oscar Wilde and George Orwell.

After the lecture, librarian Mike Morton was on hand to advise on how to start a readers group.
