Man, 37, charged with string of burglaries

A LANCING man has been charged with a string of burglaries in the Worthing and Shoreham area.

Stephen Ford, 37, of Sompting Road, Lancing, was charged with burglaries in Upper High Street and Tower Road, Worthing, and St Julian’s Lane and Kingston Broadway, Shoreham, all on August 9.

Ford was released on bail to appear at Lewes Crown Court on September 12.

The arrest is one of dozens carried out under Sussex Police’s Operation Magpie, a crackdown on burglaries across the county.

A spokesman for Sussex police said: “If you have any information about burglaries, call 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk

“If you see or hear a burglary taking place call 999 immediately.”

Residents are also being encouraged to register their items on the world’s largest property database so that if they are stolen, they can be reunited with the owners and the offenders can be prosecuted.
