Married Felpham couple accused of fixing will

A married couple from Felpham have appeared in court accused of fixing a will and gaining access to a bank account to steal thousands of pounds from two elderly people.

Robert George Schlick, 64, and his wife Carole Ann Schlick, 62, of Admiralty Close, have been charged with theft, fraud, deception and money laundering.

Mr Schlick is alleged to have written himself cheques for 7,000, 4,000 and 1,000 from 87-year-old Joyce Ranger's bank account which he looked after.

The prosecution alleged he had her Barclay card and PIN, and took a further 2,900 from various cash points.

He is said to have used 3,000 to buy Beatles memorabilia, including signed photographs.

He is also accused of changing the will of 85-year-old Ronald Vickery, who died in 2005, so he could gain a Jaguar car, 20,000 and the rights to do what he felt necessary with the rest of the estate.

He is accused of using some of the money to buy a Toyota Rav 4.

The couple were released on conditional bail to appear at Chichester Magistrates Court again on August 11.
