Open day for group that conserves Worthing’s environment

People can find out about conserving the environment while also making friends and keeping fit at an open event being held next week.

Worthing’s Green Team was started in 2008 as a way of improving the local environment, while at the same time providing its members with a way of keeping fit in the great outdoors.

The open session is on Wednesday, October 24, from 10am to 1pm, and those attending do not have to make a commitment to join.

It is at The Sanctuary in High Salvington, and will give participants an insight into practical conservation.

Stasha and Roger Martin have been with the group since it began.

Stasha said: “I enjoy talking to the other volunteers and being active in the fresh air. I am able to do some exercise and some good at the same time.”

Roger added: “The exercise is a great way of controlling my diabetes and conservation work is very satisfying because at the end of a session you can generally see a positive result.”

For more information and to register for the open session, contact Julian Stevens on 01273 263104 or email julian.stevens@adur-worthing.gov.uk
