BRITISH Transport Police officers are appealing for information after a woman’s bag was stolen on a train between Worthing and Durrington.

A 20-year-old woman from Littlehampton had her bag stolen after she boarded the 6.17pm London Victoria to Littlehampton service around 7.50pm on Monday, August 29. The victim had placed her bag in the luggage rack, and had sat further down the carriage.

When the train arrived at Worthing, two women boarded the train, sitting near the victim’s luggage. A short while later they took the woman’s bag and moved to different seats further away before leaving the train at Durrington.

Police would like to identify and speak to the women pictured in the CCTV image in connection with the incident.

Investigating officer PC Billy Burstow said: “We launched an investigation into the theft, with onboard CCTV showing the two women taking the woman’s bag before moving seats.

“The CCTV images are very clear and I’m sure someone will be able to recognise these women and tell us who they are.”
