Pensioner suffers ‘potentially life-threatening’ injuries in Dominion Road collision

A PENSIONER suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Dominion Road, Worthing, last night (Thursday, July 27).

A 51-year-old man from Hurstpierpoint was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after the collision with the 87-year-old woman at 6.50pm.

The woman was on or near a pedestrian crossing, close to the junction of the B2223 Dominion Road with Southdownview Road.

She suffered serious injuries, including multiple fractures, and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.

A local woman, she is in a critical but stable condition.

The car involved was a silver Ford Focus estate, whose driver was unhurt.

He was bailed until October 23 while enquiries continue.
