Plea for £5,500 to save emissions
SCHOOL children are appealing for the last £5,500 they need to save five tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
Blackthorns Community Primary School is close to turning to the power of the sun for its electricity and hot water after being awarded 30,000 by EDF Energy.
The company pledged its maximum award towards renewable energy technology from its dedicated Green Fund leaving the Blackthorns Close, Lindfield, school just 5,580 short of the 73,160 it needs for the project to start.
Headteacher Ruth Schofield said the project was critical to the children's first-hand learning about renewable energy as well as to the environment.
