AN elderly woman was airlifted to hospital yesterday after she crashed into a tree in Storrington.
Police closed the A283 between the Washington roundabout and Storrington until around 7.15pm last night.
The 81-year-old was cut free from her Volkswagen Golf by the fire service using heavy rescue equipment and taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
The incident happened at 3.24pm near temporary traffic lights in the A283.
The elderly woman drove into the back of a Volkswagen Golf and pushed it into the back of a Mercedes E-class estate.
Her car then went off the road and hit a tree.
