Politicians meet post office to allay fears

PARISH councillors joined Tim Loughton to discuss changes at Lancing post office at a meeting with regional manager Martine Munby.

In particular, they asked about plans to install ‘post and go’ automated machines in Lancing, primarily to deal with parcels, and how this would impact on the number of windows open.

Mrs Munby gave assurances that customers would still be able to access staff for help with all services and that the aim was to make the branch more efficient and that there would be no disruption whilst the new machines were being installed.

Staff will be available to help with the machines which should make the service more flexible.

The Post Office will make sure that customers are given full details before the changes are due to be introduced in March.

Mrs Munby was also asked to make sure that there were no intended changes to the other remaining sub-post office in Lancing at the Broadway on West Beach.

Mr Loughton said: “Having lost so many local post office branches it is absolutely essential that we protect the remaining service.”
