PREVIEW: Beeding and Bramber Village Fête

THE second annual Upper Beeding and Bramber Village Fête will feature a miniature flower show among a host of family-friendly events.

This year's fte will be held on Saturday, June 27 – not tomorrow (June 19), as advertised in the Herald – and organisers hope to surpass the success of last year's – the first of its kind in the villages for many years.

Organised jointly by Upper Beeding Primary School, the Upper Beeding Baptist Church and Beeding and Bramber Village Hall, the fte will be held from 11am at the school's field and the Beeding memorial field.

Live music, a fun dog show and a performance by the school's choir are all planned, with the entertainment carrying on into the evening.

A hog roast, barbecue and bar will also be on offer.

Prizes

The mini-flower show will be hosted by the Beeding and Bramber Horticultural Society, with only two classes.

Adults pay 25p to enter the One Specimen Rose class, while children under 12 can enter a posy of garden flowers for no fee.

Vases and water will be provided on the day and help will be on hand for youngsters making their posies.

Entries to the show should be brought to the horticultural society's stand at the fte, on the playing field, between 11am and 2pm.

Judging will take place at 2.15pm and prizes will be given out shortly after.

Other activities, such as planting seeds, will be on offer to children, while the allotment-holders will be selling plants and produce and offering guided tours of the nearby plots.
