Star Wars costume may help Worthing runner break a world record during London Marathon

VETERAN Worthing runner Jeremy Ransom is taking on an extra challenge by competing in the London Marathon wearing fancy dress.

Simply running the gruelling 26-mile long London Marathon is no longer big enough for 39-year-old Jeremy, who has run in 10 marathons.

This year he will take part dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars and hopes to break a world record in the process.

If he can complete the race in under three hours and 22 minutes, he will break the world record for running in fancy dress.

Tough challenge

Jeremy, of Broomfield Avenue, said: "This will definitely be my toughest challenge.

"Just getting round the course is hard, without having the pressure of a target time to get a world record.

"I tried out the costume for the Worthing 20 race the other day, and it was pretty hot, so it won't be easy."

Charity appeal

Jeremy, who works as a collections manager for HSBC in Worthing, is running to raise money for St Barnabas House hospice's Building a Dream campaign.
