Teachers' strike - which West Sussex schools will be closed

SCHOOLS across Worthing, Lancing and Shoreham will be forced to close on Thursday, April 24, due to a one-day pay strike by teachers.

Head teachers at nine schools in Worthing, one in Lancing and five in Shoreham have confirmed they will either be closed, or partially closed, on Thursday to allow members of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to strike over pay.

Teachers across England and Wales are calling for the 2.45 per cent pay rise for 2008 to be lifted at least above inflation — and in Worthing, teachers will make their views clear at a rally at 10am on Thursday outside the Pavilion Theatre.
