UPDATE: Guns found in Durrington pond

Waiting for Video...

TWO guns have been found in a Durrington pond, along with an array of suspected stolen jewellery.

Police believe the firearms could be air pistols that were reported stolen in a burglary.

The recovered items, described by police as ‘extremely muddy and soiled’, have been taken away for identification.

Suspicions about the site were raised after a dog jumped in the pond, in Whitebeam Woods, on Wednesday afternoon, and pulled out a jacket and some cufflinks.

The amount of items found has been described as ‘significant’ by police.

Any items that remain unidentified are likely to be placed on Sussex Police’s website in a bid to reunite them with their owners.

Anyone with information about the find is asked to email Sussex Police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 1345 of 23/07. Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
