ANTI-fracking campaigners in Worthing have today (Saturday, May 3) taken to the town’s streets in an effort to raise awareness of the controversial energy-gathering process.
Worthing Against Fracking and the town’s branch of Greenpeace were handing out leaflets to people outside Worthing’s railway station, in Railway Approach.
The campaigners are calling upon residents to sign-up to a petition to stop drilling companies from launching speculative drilling for potential fracking sites across Sussex.
The group’s campaign comes after UK shale gas exploration company Cuadrilla was given the green light to test oil extraction in Balcombe, the West Sussex village which saw major anti-fracking protests last summer.
