FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a stranded whippet yesterday (Tuesday, February 7).
The technical rescue unit from Horley was called to a cliff between Houghton and Amberley shortly before 2.50pm.
A whippet, called Amy, had fallen down a cliff face and was unable to get back up.
The dog was wedged between some trees around 30ft down the slope.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the total drop was 120ft and Amy was “very lucky” to have survived.

Five officers were at the scene until shortly after 5pm.
A video of the rescue is available to watch here.
