VIDEO: Remembrance in Worthing
WORTHING paused to remember those who lost their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts during this morning's (Sunday, November 9) annual remembrance service.
Thousands of people gathered in Chapel Road to watch a march-past at the war memorial before joining in with a two-minute silence.
The first wreaths in memory of the fallen were laid by mayor Christine Brown and deputy lieutenant Major Mark Scrase-Dickins.
A parade was led by Worthing Army Cadets included the combined ex-services contingent with their standard bearers, and escorts and contingents from the Royal British legion, the Sea Cadet Corps, the 45(F) Worthing Squadron Air Training Corps, Sussex police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and other members from local groups in the town.
Music was provided by Worthing's Salvation Army Citadel Band.
Today's service marked the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War and 90 years of Remembrance.
