Vulcan wows thousands at "best ever" Shoreham Air Show

SHOREHAM was bathed in sunshine for the 20th annual RAFA Shoreham Air Show - hailed by organisers as the best-ever.

The highlight for many of the thousands of people present on the first day of the show today (Saturday, August 22) was the display by the Avro Vulcan bomber.

It was rivalled for sheer noise and spectacle by the Eurofighter, RAF Typhoon, which returned to Shoreham.

Other favourites included the Blades aerobatic display team, the wingwalkers from Team Guinot and the simulated airfield attack and Spitfire and Hurricane scramble.

Air show press officer John Periam said: "Everyone has said it's the best air show ever. It is just phenomenal. The Vulcan was amazing."

The Vulcan is scheduled to return tomorrow, along with the other aircraft.
