A walk in memory of a Worthing man who died after falling from a crane has raised more than £1,000 for charity.

Friends Dave King, the Rev Mike Parker and Ant Duffield and supporters, completed the 23 miles from Worthing Pier to Brighton Pier in less than four hours. It was for Guild Care and Link Romania, in memory of Lee Rainford who volunteered for them.

Dave said: “It was hard but brilliant. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the friends and strangers who cheered us along the route – it made all the difference. The hardest part was coming back through Shoreham where we just didn’t have the energy to go up and and down the curbs and had to run in the road. But we’re delighted to have done it in such good time and raised such a fantastic sum in memory of Lee for Guild Care & Link Romania. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”
