Wind turbine bid for offices
A WIND turbine may be installed at the Environment Agency site in Pevensey Bay.
A planning application has been lodged with Wealden District Council to install a 29ft high grey pole with 18ft black blades.
The turbine would be ground mounted at the site on Coast Road and connected to the Environment Agency office building.
The agency wants the turbine to provide renewable energy for some of the offices on the site because it is concerned about its carbon footprint and has been actively making efforts to reduce its dependence on grid energy and the associated CO2 emissions.
A spokesperson from the Environment Agency said, "The Environment Agency has applied for planning permission to install a wind turbine on its Coast Road site in Pevensey.
"The turbine will be around nine metres high and produce around 6000 kilowatts of energy per year, enough to power two homes.
"It won't be enough, on its own, to power the Environment Agency office but contributes to our aims of becoming a carbon-neutral organisation and setting a positive example to businesses in the area."
The wind turbine proposal is under consultation until June 2.
