MEET Stanley – the winner of the Herald and Gazette’s Pet Idol 2011.

The little pooch and its owner, Ella Overington, were presented with the Pet Idol trophy, a certificate and a £50 Pets at Home voucher after the animal received the most votes.

Ella, 23, of Rochester Close, Durrington, said she was “delighted” with the result.

Ella said: “I’m really excited and happy and pleased for him. He’s been really ill recently and had his eye removed about a month ago so this has been really good for him.”

This year, there were 126 entrants in Pet Idol, including rabbits, dogs, cats and hamsters.
