A charity shop raising funds for Worthing and District Scope almost sold out on its opening day.
The shop, which opened on Monday, October 1, in New Broadway, Tarring Road, Worthing, proved popular with customers and since the launch it has remained busy.
Pauline Fox, chief executive officer of Worthing Scope, said: “It went very well, despite the awful weather.
“People were gagging to get in there and we almost ran out of stock.”
The shop is the third that the charity has opened. The other two are in South Farm Road and Rectory Road, both in Worthing.
It is staffed by 12 volunteers, but the organisation is always looking for more people to sign up to help.
Pauline said: “Although the shop is almost fully staffed, we are always looking for people who can give up a few hours of their time. We would also like fund-raisers, as we only have a small team.”
Worthing and District Scope is independent from other Scope charities around the country.
It was formed in 1965, and provides services and support for disabled people across the community.
