WORTHING Community Chest Fund presented a cheque for £1,500 to the conductor of the Davison Worthing Youth Concert Band.
The fund supports local community groups and projects through grants of up to £1,500, which are awarded four times a year.
The money will be used to fund a residential weekend at Broadstone Warren for the band members to have some intensive practice.
Karen Kennard, the band’s conductor, said: “Rehearsal events such as this enable us to cover what normally takes three months to learn at weekly rehearsals, and the grant ensures that all band members can attend regardless of their financial situation.”
The band is involved in a lot of charity work as well as performing.
