Worthing dog Lloyd saved by mystery donor

A MYSTERY donor has come forward to pay for an operation for Lloyd the dog.

In recent weeks the Worthing Herald has reported on the sad story of Lloyd, a rottweiler who needed an expensive operation on his back left leg joint which his Worthing owner was unable to pay for.

Paul Webb, 50, of Newland Road, contacted the paper in a last-ditch attempt to save his two-year-old dog who was going to be put down if he could not have the operation.

But now a knight in shining armour has said he will pay for the operation - costing nearly 3,000.

Operation paid for

Paul said: "I was totally shocked. You do not know if this is a hoax but it is definitely not.

"The vet phoned and said the money was in Lloyd's account.

"It has worked out like a fairy tale - I am just over the moon with it."

Public support

The gentleman contacted Paul directly to say he had inherited money and was able to pay the money straight to a Worthing veterinary surgery who agreed to carry out the procedure.

Paul said he has been amazed at the response he has received from people.

Waves, a hair salon in East Preston, clubbed together to buy a bed for Lloyd while officers at Worthing Borough Council organised a collection.
