NOMINATIONS are open for the 2010 Worthing Business Awards.

You can nominate as many businesses as you wish – you can even nominate your own firm.

Nominations can be emailed to wba@worthingherald.co.uk or post your entry to:

Dianne Gill, Worthing Business Awards, Worthing Herald,

Cannon House, Chatsworth Road, Worthing, BN11 1NA.

The deadline for nominations is August 31.

Remember, the judges will make their decision based on the evidence in front of them – so make those nominations sing.

New Business of the Year Award 2010

We define a new business as having been started after August 1, 2009.

So which new business has most caught the imagination of the town?

It may be through its product, marketing or the personality of its promoter.

Over to you.

MicroBusiness of the Year Award 2010 (one to five employees) – Sponsored by Worthing Borough Council

Whether home, office or workshop based, this is a showcase for those businesses with one to five employees.

We want to receive nominations for dynamic and innovative businesses with customer service par excellence and that little something extra which mark them out in the thriving ultra-small sector.

Small Business of the Year Award 2010 (up to 20 employees) – Sponsored by Bennett Griffen

Moving up a notch in size brings us to the Small Business Award.

Traditionally one of the hardest-fought categories, the judges will be looking for business excellence off the back of a quality

product wedded to great client/customer service, all combined with a pinch of innovation and marketing acumen.

Medium to Large Business of the Year Award 2010

The winner of this award will reflect all that is good in Worthing business.

The nominees may have a local, regional, national or international market.

By being Worthing based they will enhance the reputation of the town as a great place to do business, with a skilled, educated and motivated workforce producing a quality product to their chosen market place.

Business Marketing and Promotion Award 2010

We want to know which Worthing business is the best at

marketing itself.

Honesty, taste and integrity are a given but we're looking for innovation and creativity whether in print, image, web or other media.

So which Worthing business has done the best marketing job over the past year? You tell us.

Business in the Community Award 2010

So many Worthing businesses give so much back. Whether it's charity work, helping schools and colleges, or community groups, this award is designed to say a big thank-you to a business that takes time to care. Voted for by Worthing Herald readers.

Customer Care Award 2010

Arguably, this is where it all starts and, some would say, ends.

The winner of this award will demonstrate that customer service is alive and kicking and living in Worthing.

Reward a business that is passionate about customer care – nominate them for this award.

Education, Training and Development Award 2010 – sponsored by Northbrook College

Education, training and employee development are the keys to business success.

The winner of this category will have demonstrated real commitment to developing and motivating their workforce at a time when the cost/benefit equation is more important than ever.

Retailer of the Year Award 2010

Large or small, quirky or essential, retailing is part of the British make-up.

In Worthing, we have retailers who demonstrate all the qualities necessary to fit the bill of Retailer of the Year.

All you have to do is nominate them.

Restaurant of the Year Award 2010 – sponsored by Classic Event Marquee

Restaurants, take-aways – all have a chance to be nominated in this category.

We're looking for the a Worthing eatery providing great customer service from a quality environment with, of course, consistently fine food.

Have fun making your choices

Tourism and Leisure Award 2010

The town continues to enjoy the reputation of being a great holiday destination. But which business does the best job

in projecting all that's good about the town?

It might be a hotel, an attraction or an event.

Whichever it is, it will have impressed the judges as well as helping Worthing stand out from the crowd.

Green Business of the Year Award 2010 – sponsored by Reflections Nurseries

Carbon footprints, ozone depletion, energy efficiency, recycling and sustainable transport.

The winner of this category will have had a mind to all of these and will be an example to the rest of us (and hopefully one we want to follow!). If you know that business, nominate it.

Charity or Not For Profit Organisation of the Year Award 2010 – sponsored by Saywell International

Charities and not-for-profit organisations often depend on the generosity of businesses and individuals to get the money they need to carry out their charitable or organisational aims.

This year is as difficult as it's been for a while, so big or small, the winner of this category will have impressed the judges with their approach to achieving what they set out to do – be it educational, charitable or cultural.

Manufacturer of the Year Award 2010 – sponsored by Carpenter Box

Worthing continues to amaze.

There are so many companies based around the area who make things – and, in some cases, make world-class things.

This category produced the overall winner in the last awards and was so closely fought the judges almost came to blows.

So we're looking forward to seeing what manufacturing gems are nominated this year.

The Worthing Lifetime Achievement in Business Award

The winner of this award will have made a major contribution to their business and to the business reputation of the town over more years than they would probably care to remember.

This is your chance to recognise and acclaim that special someone by nominating them.

Worthing Business Person of the Year 2010 – sponsored by Spofforths

Ego, personality, humour, business savvy, commitment and a fair smattering of humanity? You decide.

In this category we're looking for Worthing's Business Person of the Year 2010. This winner will surely stand out from the crowd.
