Watch the film featuring Olympic star Iwan Thomas as we countdown our favourites in what promises to be an enormous sporting year.

2016 is set to be a festival of sporting action and with the Olympics Games, UEFA Euro 2016 and RBS Six Nations Championship just on the horizon there is certainly plenty to look forward to.

So, with the nation’s attention likely to be firmly fixed on the action ahead and a stack of new sporting memories ready to be made, it seems only right that we take a moment to look back at our favourite of the fastest sporting successes of the past.

As an island of sports fans who makes the podium / lifts the trophy / crosses the finish line first?

Argos Fast Track polled the nation to find out and revealed the following as our favourites:

1 Mo Farah winning gold in the 10,000m on Super Saturday at the London 2012 Olympics Games (20%)

2 Jess Ennis storming to victory in the 800 metres to win Gold for GB at London 2012 Olympic Games (18.1%)

3 Usain Bolt winning the 100m Gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games (17.8%)

4 Bradley Wiggins winning the time trial gold at London 2012 just weeks after winning the Tour de France

5 Ronnie O’Sullivan’s fastest maximum break in 5 mins 20 secs

The research also revealed that the Olympic Games narrowly edged the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament as the sporting event we are most looking forward to this year, with Wimbledon, the RBS Six Nations Championship and the Formula One World Championship rounding out the top five.

While we may be turning into a nation of on-demand viewers, one in five say that sport is the one thing they have to watch live, whilst almost one in ten will be avoiding all social media this year around key sporting events - presumably to make sure they don’t find out the results if they can’t get to a TV or tablet in time.

Iwan Thomas won’t be in danger of that – he plans on taking home the gold for spectating this year, but before we ready ourselves for more incredible sporting memories, here he is to give us a fast and furious run down of some of our most loved of all time.
