A MAN who was threatening to jump from the top of a 200ft crane this morning has been arrested after being talked down to safety.
Emergency services, including fire engines, were called to the building site next to the Aquarena swimming pool, in Brighton Road, Worthing, this morning (May 24) at about 7.55am.
A police spokesman said a 44-year-old man, who is believed to be from Worthing, entered the site, before climbing to the top of the crane and threatening to jump.
The spokesman said: “Police talked to him and our objective was to resolve the situation without anyone coming to any harm.
“By 8.36am, the 44-year old local man came down the crane of his own accord after talking to police officers. He is unharmed and was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass.
“This is not believed to be part of any protest, and is more likely to be related to personal issues the man has.”
