A MAN has been charged in connection with a fatal collision which killed a pensioner in Worthing last year.

Richard Godfrey, 51 of Blackthorns, Hurstpierpoint has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death while unlicensed and uninsured and driving with uncorrected defective eyesight, police announced today (February 20).

It is in response to a police investigation following a crash on July 31, which killed 87-year-old Eileen Scott.

The incident took place close to the junction of the B2223 Dominion Road with Southdown View Road, at 6.50pm.

Mrs Scott later died of her injuries on August 2.

Mr Godfrey will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on March 10.
